Albi Stunzner had trained as a motor mechanic in Apia. He travelled to Germany in 1930 where he studied engineering and had a successful career as an engineering company executive, ending up as managing director. He married and settled in the town of Haltern. Albi was conscripted into the German Army during the war but survived the conflict.
