But life on Somes Island also required that work be done. This beautifully captured and moody photo, probably taken by Gregor Riethmaier, shows a work detail collecting and cutting up firewood. Fritz squats at the front.  Fritz’ combative personality meant that he sometimes ran foul of the camp management.
