To Walk Under Palm Trees

The Germans in Samoa: Snapshots from Albums

The Germans in Samoa 59

The home of Dr Oskar Thieme and his wife Luise (nee Gabriel), at Savalalo, that Stunzner designed and built in about 1912. The lower storey at the front of the house has been made from concrete. As with his own home, Stunzner seems to have worked to find a balance between sunshading, privacy and airflow.

This photo was taken shortly after the house was completed.
