Governor Erich Schultz was the first to sign the card, and then followed a list of mainly German and English residents. Only one woman’s signature is evident, that of Mrs Luise Thieme, wife of Dr Oskar Thieme. When opened, the card measures an impressive 660mm wide x 555mm long.

    James Stowers signatures of this page Ulberg was originally from Norway and Stowers British ancestory. James wife was a descendant of the Malietoa.

    Dear Mathias Freund,
    I would be grateful if you could contact me. Your grandfather’s sister-in-law Dora Sabiel w(married to Paul Sabiel, Guido’s brother) was a witness at my grandmother’s witting. Her name was Mathilde Plate and she married Robert Francis Woods in 1898. Her brother Adolf Gustav Plate was an artist and lived in Samoa around the time you grandfather was there.
    I was at school at Redlands with your sister Nancy Sabiel.

    Hans Traub was my grandfather. William Charles Dean was my great-grandfather and William Stanley Dean was a brother of my grandmother Edith Lilian Traub born Dean.
